Last week, Jason Sparaga attended OG100's Ambition at Scale: Strengthening Canada's Global Position in Ottawa.

Sessions included Prime Minister Mark Carney in conversation with Tom Jenkins, Executive Chair of OpenText, on Canada's future, competitiveness, and emerging opportunities, and Mark Wiseman, Canada's Ambassador to the U.S., on the Canada-US relationship. Geoffrey Smith from EllisDon also spoke to what it means to build big from Canada, a theme that ran through the whole event.

Canadian businesses are critical to driving economic growth and innovation, and the commitment to building and investing here has never been more important. Given Prime Minister Carney’s announcement on AI strategy, digital infrastructure was a key topic of conversation. In order to participate in this generational opportunity, we need the facilities that power AI to be built here. Building here means the investment stays in Canada and gives us the opportunity to put a Canadian stamp on how this development happens and is used.

Jason’s conversation with the Prime Minister and Members of Parliament from across the country reinforced that opportunity, and the responsibility that comes with it. The discussion included opportunities to use different cooling approaches to minimize water use and to manage noise, and the importance of community education and engagement as part of the development process.
